Cardiac Diagnostic Electrophysiology Technician II

Job Purpose

Performance of diagnostic adult and pediatric echocardiography procedures as
defined using our clinical cardiology management system and guidelines.
Performing work in accordance with the physician request for all
echocardiography producers.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Operating diagnostic cardiac ultrasound and related examinations (‎2-D/M-mode, Trans-esophageal, Stress (including pharmacologic), Doppler, Color Doppler, Contrast procedures) and perform as directed.


• Performing Echocardiography according to standard protocols and guidelines.


• Consistent independent judgment exhibited during the exam to accurately identify normal and differentiate between the pathologic findings.


• Responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are under the procedure.


• Daily operations of the echocardiograph laboratory are understood and handled


• All required documentation for each procedure, including report and encounter forms, is understood and completed.


• Ultrasound equipment, work area, and adequate supplies are known and maintained.


• Laboratory standards to maintain accreditation in Transthoracic, Trans-esophageal, and fetal Echo is understood and maintained.


• Participation in the accreditation process is understood and expected.


• Ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospitals, referral or


• commercial agencies are established and maintained.


• Training of students, residents, and fellows as appropriate including acting as a preceptor/mentor for new and developing lab staff handled as requested by the supervisor or lab manager.


• The sonographer works efficiently and copes with emergency situations.


• Interpersonal conflicts are resolved using appropriate methods and organizational resources, including but not limited to Employee Relations Services and Faculty Employee Assistance Program.


• Privacy maintained at all times for patient and employee information.


• Respects patients and their families to promote a patient-centered care culture.


• Assume on-call responsibilities as needed.


• Adhering to policies and procedures.


• Attends education in-service programs to maintain professional competency. Obtains appropriate hospital-specific education and training.


• Assists shift personnel in the completion of activities in other care areas.


• Participates in departmental and hospital performance improvement activities.


• Participates in and supports quality improvement and patient safety activities as an individual or as part of Internal Medicine team.


• Performs other tasks and duties within the scope of knowledge, skills, and experience required for the job as assigned by the immediate supervisor, Director or designee.


• Provide clear understandable information to patients that related to their health.

Job Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum or Required:
* Certified Diploma in Cardiac Technology program or Echocardiography/ Echocardiography Diploma.
* BLS.
Experience : ‎2 years
