1. Platforms Specialist
1.1 Position Information
Job Title: Platforms Specialist
Department: Infrastructure Management
Division: Operations and Shared Services
Reports to: Platforms Team Lead
1.2 Position Purpose
The platforms specialist is responsible for the day-to-day system
administration and operations of computer and storage infrastructure to ensure
availability, optimal performance, and security of systems including cloud,
hypervisors, operating systems, hardware and other related services. The
platforms specialist participate in system capacity evaluations and plan.
1.3 Problems and Challenges
Typical problems that occur are related to system availability, reliability
and performance. The main challenge are the incident and problem management
functions in alignment with Saudi Payments SLAs and OLAs.
1.4 Essential Position Functions
1.4.1 Accountabilities
* Follow system guidelines, procedures and standards of Saudi Payments' policies and procedures.
* Ensure availability, performance and security of systems including cloud, operating systems, utilities, servers, workstations, and related applications.
* Coordinate response to service interruption, security breaches or other critical situation to re-establish system functionality as per Saudi Payments incident management policy.
* Coordinates the creation, monitoring and maintenance of privileged user accounts.
* Perform day-to-day system administration and operation.
* Comply with all relevant Saudi Payments policies, procedures and other supporting documents.
* Fulfills departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personnel illness, vacation or education.
* Participate in the 24x7 On-Call support Rota if required
1.4.2 Authority
* Provide technical support to compute systems and storage services of Saudi Payments.
1.5 Contacts
* Contacts include the following division in Saudi Payments:
o Operations and Shared Services
o Governance Risk and Compliance
* Platforms Specialist interacts closely with the external vendors.
1.6 Position Requirements
* System Operations or End User support experience in at least one of the following systems: AWS cloud, IBM AIX, VMware vSphere, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp, Windows Server, or DELL EMC Storage.
* Hold at least one of the following certificates or equivalent:
o Red Hat Certified System Admin
o IBM Certified System Administrator
o DELL EMC Information Mana
o AWS Certified SysOps - Associate
o VMware Certified Associate in Data Center Virtualization
o Microsoft Certified Solution Associate
o Citrix Certified Associate - Virtualization
o CompTIA Linux+
* Basic knowledge in networking technologies and protocols such as TCP/IP.
* Associate degree in Computer Science or related field. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
* Good customer-care attitude
* 'Team player', with a positive 'can do' attitude
* Highly ethical, dependable, and willing to take responsibility and be accountable for assigned scope
* Used and willing to working to tight timescales in dynamic environments
* Ability to work varying hours and shifts
