Organizes, conducts, and directs a biomedical physics service program at the
Hospital. Supervises health physicists.
1. Participates in the establishment of radiation protection and Health
Physics policies and procedures and establishes safety education programs for
personnel.
2. Provides guidance to other departments with regard to radiation
protection.
3. Recognizes and communicates to personnel the consequences of errors in
safety procedures.
4. Stays abreast of new technologies in field of expertise and examines the
utility and feasibility of incorporating the same as per the Hospital's
requirements.
5. Ensures the availability of required equipment and raises specifications
for any additional equipment required.
6. Provides training to Health Physics personnel in procedures and
techniques.
7. Supervises one or more Health Physics staff, allocates and monitors
assigned tasks.
8. Participates in developing standard in operating procedures for pertaining
to radiation protection.
9. Performs acceptance tests for special and routine quality control of
Diagnostic Radiology x-ray units and associated equipment.
10. Participates in preparation and review of manuscripts and research
proposals.
11. Participates in department/unit specific and Hospital wide quality
improvement plan preferred.
Ph.D. or Master 's Degree in Medical or Health Physics or related scientific
discipline from a recognized institution is required.
Nine (9) years of related Medical or Health Physics experience including five
(5) years at a managerial/supervisory position with Ph.D., or twelve (12)
years with Master 's Degree is required.
