General Manager - Regional Start Up

The Role
Alcon Maddox are proud to represent the region’s leading online gifting
marketplace. They are a team of ambitious humans fueled by their purpose to
make the world a happier place, one gift at a time. They live in ‎8 countries
and ‎21 cities across the region, and they are just getting started! We are
looking for an exceptional General Manager to lead the team in the company’s
largest market. As KSA GM, you will be responsible for driving growth and
helping the business achieve its overall commercial objectives in KSA. We are
seeking a strong people leader who is agile, highly entrepreneurial with a
deep understanding of the KSA market and its customer base. You will be
expected to develop and execute a strategy for the company’s growth in KSA
that will position it strategically as the go-to gifting brand that people
love. Be a member of a high-performing, rapidly growing team who are working
to deliver life-enhancing products and services to their customers.
Responsibilities: • Build the company’s vision and strategy for KSA, set
monthly/quarterly team objectives • Own KSA’s P&L; and be responsible for
achieving growth and burn/profitability targets • Identify new opportunities
for growth (new customer segments, new markets, new verticals) and set action
plans to go after such opportunities • Build key partnerships in an effort of
opening new opportunities to grow and build awareness • Identify opportunities
to improve quality and reliability of the operations across all cities in KSA
• Identify top merchant partners to onboard onto the platform and support
Category Management team accordingly • Lead cross-functional team alignment to
make internal and external operations more efficient and scalable • Represent
and be the spokesperson for the business in all meetings/interactions with
merchant partners, government officials, strategic partners and other key
stakeholders in KSA • Motivate the KSA team around the company’s mission and
values and ensure that the various teams perform against their goals and
objectives • Own colleague engagement and continuously improve retention rate
by building an amazing environment for colleagues to thrive and grow in •
Champion the values and culture and ensure that they are lived at every level
of the KSA organization

Requirements
* Bachelor's degree from a reputable university, a master’s degree / MBA is a plus • ‎5+ years’ experience in regional startups or technology companies having led large teams • Strong commercial and business acumen with a solid understanding of key business functions such as finance and marketing • Demonstrated leadership skills, both in building teams and being a strong stakeholder management • Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and a strong analytical approach • Ability and willingness to operate at all levels (big picture and small details) supporting his/her team as needed. No task is beneath him/her • Passionately data and numbers driven. This is a must! • Unbelievable customer obsession and customer centric approach to problem solving • A hands-on, “can do” attitude, and a drive for outcome focused performance • Excellent communicator, fluent in both Arabic and English • Must be based in Riyadh or flexible to relocate to Riyadh
