Summary:
The work schedule for this position is Full time (‎40 hours per week)


Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period

Travel required includes visits to host country government facilities, other
embassies and consulates, and occasional visits to U.S. citizens' homes or
trips to neighboring posts or the United States for training or other official
duties.


Duties


Basic Function of the Position:


Incumbent works as an American Citizen Services (ACS) Assistant in Abu Dhabi's
American Citizen Services Unit that serves a resident Amcit population of
nearly ‎16,000 residents and annual Amcit visitors of over ‎75,000. Provides the
full range of complex passport and citizenship services. Serves as case worker
for Special Consular Services (SCS), with the focus on welfare/whereabouts,
child custody and abduction, victims of crime, arrestees, and U.S. citizens in
need due mental illness, indebtedness or destitution. Advises officers on SCS
cases course of action and on passport cases. Serves as ACS anti-fraud
investigator and confirms authenticity of documents for legal purposes.
Responds to email and phone inquiries from Amcits, and to Congressional
inquiries, on the full range of ACS issues. Manages and maintains the American
citizen registration system and warden network. Coordinates with USG agencies,
such as the Social Security and Veterans Administrations, Internal Revenue
Service and the Department of Homeland Security to assist U.S. citizens.
Drafts and translates Diplomatic Notes from English to Arabic. Assists
consular officers with interpretation form Arabic to English and English to
Arabic, including during prison visits and welfare and whereabouts visits.
Also assists consular officer with translation of documents from Arabic to
English or English to Arabic.


Qualifications and Evaluations


Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Three (‎3) years experience of consular work or three years
work experience related to complex or regulatory material.

Education Requirements:
Completion of at least two years of University/College studies is
required.

Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: This may be tested.


Fluent in Reading/Writing/Speaking in English is required.


Fluent in Reading/Writing/Speaking in Arabic is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have a valid driver's license.
