Job Description

Job Purpose
The job purpose of a Mechanical Draftsman is to support the mechanical
engineering and design process by creating accurate and detailed technical
drawings and documentation. These drawings and documents serve as critical
blueprints that guide the development, manufacturing, and implementation of
mechanical systems, components, and products. By meticulously translating
engineering concepts into visual representations, the Mechanical Draftsman
plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of projects,
maintaining design integrity, and meeting quality standards. Additionally, the
role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to foster seamless
communication and contribute to the overall efficiency and innovation within
the mechanical design process.
Job Responsibilities
* Drafting and Design: Create accurate and precise 2D and 3D mechanical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Interpret technical sketches, specifications, and engineering concepts to generate detailed drafts and blueprints.
* Product Development: Assist in the development of new mechanical products, systems, and components. Collaborate with engineering teams to convert conceptual designs into functional and manufacturable products.
* Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation related to mechanical designs, including material specifications, bill of materials (BOM), assembly instructions, and technical reports.
* Quality Assurance: Review and verify drawings for accuracy, adherence to design standards, and compliance with relevant industry codes and regulations. Make necessary revisions and modifications as per feedback from engineers or clients.
* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and manufacturing personnel, to ensure seamless communication and successful project outcomes.
* Innovation and Improvement: Stay updated with the latest developments in mechanical design, CAD technologies, and industry trends. Propose and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in drafting activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology,
or a related field.

Skills & Professional Requirements:
* Proficiency in CAD Software: Strong expertise in using computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools to create detailed mechanical drawings.
* Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and design standards.
* Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to drafting to ensure precision and accuracy in all drawings and technical documentation.
* Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and convey technical information clearly.
* Problem-solving Abilities: Capability to identify design issues and provide innovative solutions to optimize mechanical components and systems.
* Time Management: Ability to work within project deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience Requirements:
Previous experience as a Mechanical Draftsman or in a related role is
preferred but not mandatory for entry-level positions.
Experience with CAD software and drafting in the context of mechanical
engineering projects is advantageous.
